Has to be the staff and the design of dining room and lounge bar
We had pipes running along wall which radiated a great amount of heat as well as the radiators never being fully cool although turned to zero. As room faced busy street could not leave windows open at night because of traffic noise, although even with windows closed the traffic noise could still be heard but worse still there was a takeaway Pegasus directly opposite hotel which was open until 4am causing even more noise.Sunday morning we went down for breakfast at 7.30 only to be told dinng room did not open until 8am. Three other guests in same position. So all in all I paid £240 for 2 sleepless nights 1 cereal 1 fried breakfast 2 orange juice 2 toast and 2 cups of tea. Very very expensive
“One of the best, fabulous food" This was my second stay at this hotel and once again I really enjoyed it, one of the best hotels in Perth. Great food and service and comfy rooms well worth a visit.
Wonderful hotel I travel a lot in my job and this hotel was a pleasant change from many others I have stayed in! The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. My room was spotless, airy and bright and I would certainly recommend a stay here to anyone.
Firstly our room was not ready untill 2.50pm arriving at the room the cleaner was still cleaning. The windows were full open we were greeted with a very noisey air conditioning unit in a stifling hot uncomfortable overheated room, the room itself was of reasonable decor. We immediately asked to be moved only to be told they were fully booked and we could be moved for 1 night only of our 2 night stay. We were absolutely sweating the heat was immense, after returning from dinner at 9.30pmand told we can only be moved for 1 night we decided to leave the hotel and regretably drive home.
The quality of the breakfast. The offer to have someone to carry the luggage-husband one of the fittest men of his age that I know..I thought it ws lovely and a nice welcome
My husband thought that teh shower coudl have beenb more powerful, with warmer water.
The best thing about the hotel was the Bistro attached to it - the food was amoungst the best I have every eaten anywhere in the world.
Room was small and cramped and the bathroom was old a rickerty.
the relaxing bistro and meal
The staff were very friendly & helpful. Good breakfasts, clean comfortable rooms. Would stay again but only if 1st floor rooms available or a lift installed!!
The stairs to the rooms were unbeleivably steep & winding, all guests & even staff commented on this!! Even the fitter among us had to stop for breathers. It should be made clear that this hotel is not suitable for elderly people - my mum was with us and the stairs were so bad, she had to use her angina sprays at each floor. Also, the ground floor public areas were nicely refurbished but the stairwells were a bit shabby & dated. The website was a bit misleading, stating free car parking on site - there were only actually 5 very small spaces!!
Good breakfast, pleasant, polite and helpful staff, nice rooom
Shower was weak and ineffectual.
It was a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere suitable for my visit which was to attend a conference in Perth.
Friendly staff and the smoked haddock and poached egg for breakfast comes highly recommended. Excellent restaurant and bar. Perfect position at a quieter end of Perths main thoroughfare.
We stayed at the New County for three nights in August on a B&B rate. The room allocated was on the front of the building, which is located on a busy main road. The room was a good size and had everything we needed for a short stay. Breakfast was served in the hotels "Opus One" restaurant and we were offered a selection of continental and cooked dishes all to a good standard. The hotel location makes it easy to reach the town centre and shops. Perth is a location for a base when exploring the Perthshire mountains and countryside. This is a great location for tourists.
Things to note include the fact that there can be traffic noise in hte roome located to the front of the building. Also note the hotel has very limited parking and the adjacent local authority car parks are short-stay. Parking in Perth can be expensive so make an allowance for this cost when considering this location.
The gourmet food was excellent for presentation, composition and best of all taste. Very nice well lit dining room and table settings. Also atmosphere very romantic and pleasing to the eye. The bistro next door was also nicely decorated and fun with good food from the same chef.
We stayed on the top floor so had to climb 2 flights of spiral staircase with luggage. The bedroom was small but clean and comfortable.
We used this hotel as a base for a local festival we were attending. The location was just on the edge of the town centre which suited us for shopping, shuttle buses etc. The dining facilities and lounge area were clean, comfortable and modern. The bedroom was clean and tidy. Breakfast & service was good. Resident's parking available at no extra cost.
The residents area (stairs, landings, hallways) and bedrooms let the hotel down a bit. The room was tired, uncomfortably warm and dated - not like the ones we viewed on the website. We had both windows open our whole stay, the downside of this was the noise of traffic and public transport on the busy road from early hours of the morning. We also heard other residents discussing the temperature of their rooms amongst themselves. The heating was not on but I think the kitchen below was probably the cause of the temperature in our room. On check-out I mentiond this and was told I would probably appreciate it in the winter!
Good location. Excellent breakfast, but suggest more butter and marmalade needed. Staff very helpfull in allocating a room on the first floor as we could not manage the maze of stairs.
Rooms at front facing busy main road could do with the now popular triple glazing.
